Over 40 years have passed since the Civil Rights Movement but according to the 2010 Census it appears that America's cities still remain fairly segregated.  On April 4, 2011, Reverend Jesse Jackson proclaimed that Milwaukee is the most segregated city in America in an interview with MSNBC. [1] Is that really true though, or is that just an undeserved title?  If it is the most segregated city in the nation, why does it remain so segregated today?  Is government policy responsible for segregation, or is it a result of racism?  Does racism create segregation, or does segregation create racism?  How does segregation in Milwaukee compare to other cities in the United States like Detroit and Chicago?  In order to be able to discuss why Milwaukee is the way it is today, you have to look into Milwaukee's past.
